Four things to check first. One of them fixes it more often than you'd think — and if it doesn't, you've already given our tech half the diagnosis.

Check the thermostat
Set to COOL, fan on AUTO, and at least 4 degrees below room temperature. Swap the batteries — a dead thermostat looks exactly like a dead system.

Check the breakers
There are usually two: air handler and condenser. Flip a tripped breaker fully off, then on. If it trips again, stop and call us.

Check the filter
A clogged filter freezes coils. If it's grey, replace it and give the system a few hours to thaw with the fan running.

Look for ice or water
Ice on the copper line or water around the air handler means shut the system off at the thermostat and call. Running it frozen kills compressors.

Then call us
